Larry Lake |

Larry Lake was born in Pennsylvania of
Mennonite and Newfoundland stock. He was raised in Georgia and Florida and came
to maturity in Ontario.
His early studies were at
Florida
State University. He obtained three degrees (B.Mus., M.Mus., M.Ed.)
from the University of Miami. His postgraduate study was at
the Southern
Illinois University (composition) and at the University of Toronto
(composition and musicology). Doctoral work at the
University of
Toronto was abandoned for gainful employment with the
CBC. |

| Larry Lake
has served as executive producer of MusicScope, Themes and
Variations and Music Alive for
CBC
Radio. He has been a national trainer of radio personnel. He has
been music consultant, host and producer for the CBC's national new music
series
Two New Hours, which received
the coveted CBC Award as Best Weekly Network Series in 1998. He has produced
recordings for ten labels, and his work has been nominated three times for the
Juno, Canada's highest recording honour. |
| He has
performed in eleven countries in Europe and North America. Mr. Lake has been a
soloist with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra,
Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, Orchestre
Métropolitain de Montréal and the Ottawa Symphony Orchestra. He
has been featured with ACREQ,
Arraymusic, Canadian Electronic Ensemble, Espace
Musique, Music Inter Alia, Nova Music,
Vancouver
New Music. He has appeared more than 80 times on CBC Radio and
Television as chamber musician and soloist |
| His works have represented Canada at the International Rostrum of
Composers and the World Music Days of the International Society for
Contemporary Music. His music has been recorded on seven labels and has been
performed and broadcast in more than thirty countries. He is a founding member
and artistic director of the Canadian Electronic Ensemble. |
